Chennai : Ruling AIADMK general secretary and former Tamil Nadu chief minister J.Jayalalithaa Monday thanked union Minister Maneka Gandhi and actor Rajinikanth for their support.
In letter to Gandhi, text of which was released to the media here, Jayalalithaa said: “I was especially moved by the fact that, despite your busy schedule as union minister, Ministry of Women and Child Development, you found the time to think of me and send your heartwarming missive.”
Jayalalithaa said Gandhi’s letter touched her deeply.
In her reply to Rajinikanth, the AIADMK leader said: “I was happy to receive your letter of Oct 19, 2014, and I thank you for the kind and gracious sentiments expressed therein.”
“I pray that the almighty may bless you with long life, good health, prosperity and success in all your activities. Please convey my best wishes to all the members of your family,” Jayalalithaa said.
Rajinikanth and Maneka Gandhi Sunday expressed their happiness at her return home here.
A special court in Bangalore Sep 27 convicted Jayalalithaa in the Rs.66.65-crore disproportionate assets case and sentenced her to four years of simple imprisonment, with a fine of Rs.100 crore.
She was released on bail Saturday.
