New Delhi: The AAP Tuesday criticised the human resource development (HRD) ministry over the Teachers’ Day address by Prime Minister Narendra, terming the controversy in the issue “needless” and “unfortunate”.
“It is unfortunate that the union human resources development (HRD) ministry has created a needless controversy over the Teachers’ Day celebrations,” the Aam Aadmi Party said in a statement.
HRD Minister Smriti Irani’s statement that it was voluntary for students to listen to Modi’s address and they would not be forced to be present in their schools between 3 and 5 p.m. has further led to confusion, it said.
The ministry needs to come clean on its advisory to states about making necessary arrangements for the telecast of the address in schools Sep 5, the statement said.
