Bilawal Bhutto to contest 2018 elections from mother’s seat

Islamabad : Former prime minister Benazir Bhutto’s son Bilawal Bhutto Zardari Monday announced he will contest the 2018 general elections from his mother’s home constituency (NA-207), Geo News reported.

Talking to reporters, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, the Pakistan Peoples Party ‘s (PPP) patron-in chief, also criticised the sit-ins being staged by Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) and Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) in Islamabad at a time when the country is dealing with devastation of floods.

Stating that it was a matter of ego, former president Asif Ali Zardari’s son termed the protests “frivilous”.

He said if the media stopped showing the sit-ins, they would end.

On another issue, he said there was no question of Sindh province being divided and it wouldn’t be fair to compare Punjab province with Sindh. The division was demanded by Mutthaida Qaumi Movement party.

The National Assembly constituency from where Bilawal plans to contest the polls is viewed as “The fort of the PPP” as the seat covers the native home of former prime ministers Benazir Bhutto and Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto.

The seat was won by Faryal Talpur of the PPP in the 2013 general elections. He earlier won this seat uncontested in 2008.
