Kuwait arrests 11 IS supporters

Dubai : Authorities in Kuwait have arrested 11 people for supporting the Islamic State (IS) terrorist group. They will be prosecuted for promoting terror-related activities, a media report said Wednesday.

Security officials said those arrested were found to have taken part in several battles in Syria and Iraq and contributed financially to the movement, Gulf News reported.

Some of the defendants also printed hundreds of leaflets that promoted extremist ideologies and sought to overthrow the regime in Kuwait through the use of force.

The rebels were under the scrutiny of the government security agency after it received information that IS cells had started to make moves in response to the decision by the international community to form a global alliance against the Sunni militant group.
