Kolkata : Having already dragged the name of West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee in the Saradha scam, suspended Trinamool Congress MP Kunal Ghosh Thursday called for interrogating state Sports Minister Madan Mitra for “unearthing the larger conspiracy”.
As Ghosh, who headed the Saradha Group’s media arm, was presented before a city court on the expiry of his judicial remand, he also called for questioning fellow party MP Srinjoy Bose and his father Swapan Sadhan Bose, a former party parliamentarian.
With the prosecution opposing his bail plea, Ghosh, who is behind bars since November 2013, sought to know why Mitra who was “the president of several Saradha employees unions wasn’t questioned by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in connection with the scam”.
Ghosh also pleaded that besides Mitra, the father-son duo of Bose should also be interrogated for unearthing the larger conspiracy.
The journalist turned politico along with scam kingpin Sudipta Sen and close aide Debjani Mukherjee were remanded to judicial custody till Sep 29.
Having repeatedly alleged the complicity of several of Trinamool leaders in the scam, Ghosh earlier had told the court that he should be jointly interrogated with the chief minister and Sudipta Sen for corroborating his assertions.
Probing the multi-crore scam the CBI has repeatedly grilled Bapi Karim, a former aide of Mitra and also interrogated Srinjoy Bose.
The agency has also arrested four people including Trinamool leader and former director general of the state armed police Rajat Majumdar.
The agency has also summoned for questioning Trinamool Lok Sabha member Suvendu Adhikari in connection with the scam.
