IS releases new video of British hostage

Beirut : Militants of Islamic State (IS) Sunni radical group Tuesday released a second video of one of its hostages in Syria, British journalist John Cantlie, who criticised the air operations carried out by the US and its allies against the group.

In the five-and-a-half-minute recording, Cantlie, who is sitting at a table, presented himself as a British citizen who has been abandoned by his government.

The video was posted on the Internet and titled “Lend Me Your Ears”.

Cantlie, dressed in orange, said that he would show how the Western governments were moving hastily into Iraq and Syria without having learned from the lessons of the past.

During the video, a review of what the IS considered a failure of the US and its allies in the region was shown.

It was the second video released in a week by the group featuring Cantlie and coincided with the start of the international offensive against the IS in Syria.
