Islamabad : Security forces in Pakistan conducted searches at the residence of Baloch leader Nawabzada Shahzain Bugti Wednesday and recovered a huge quantity of arms and ammunition, media reported.
A security official requesting anonymity told Dawn that Frontier Corps and personnel of anti-terrorist force foiled a major terror bid during the joint raid.
He said 800 hand-grenades, 200kg of explosives, 13 RPG launchers and electric detonators were seized during the raid that was carried out at Jamhoori Watan Party (JWP) leader Bugti’s residence on Quetta’s Al Gailani Road.
Sources close to Bugti, however, termed it a baseless claim and an effort to silence Bugti for what they called his struggle for Baloch people.
No arrest was made during the raid.
Bugti is a grandson of late Nawab Akbar Bugti, a Baloch nationalist leaser, who was assassinated in 2006.
