Aligarh: The elections of the AMU Students’ Union and eleven students’ representative to the University Court will be held on October 29, 2014.
The decision was taken in a consultative meeting held today under the chairmanship of Vice Chancellor Lt. General Zameer Uddin Shah, Pro-Vice Chancellor Brigadier S. Ahmad Ali, Group Captain Shahrukh Shamshad, Chief Election Officer Prof. Naeem Ahmad Khan and members of the core committee along with other university functionaries attended the meeting.
The Chief Election Officer, Professor Naeem Ahmad said that the election will be held as per the Lyngdoh Committee recommendations and the election schedule will be declared shortly.
The Vice Chancellor has directed that the prescribed code of conduct be implemented strictly. No motorcycle or motor vehicle is to be used and campaigning is not to be allowed in the classroom. The students from University maintained schools and the Senior Secondary Schools (Boys and Girls) would not be allowed to participate in election campaign. Further, no campaigning is to be permitted in the Senior Secondary School (Boys and Girls).
It has further been clarified that only hand written poster will be allowed. Xerox copies or printed posters are prohibited. Posters or slogans are not to be put on walls and building. No relaxation of minimum percentage of attendance is to be given.
The University has constituted a core committee of fourteen senior members to assist the Election for smooth conduct of AMU students’ Union and AMU Court Election 2014-2015.
