BJP to seek security to Saradha whistleblowers

Kolkata: Claiming there may be life threats to people who have made startling revelations against West Bengal’s ruling Trinamool Congress in the Saradha scam, the BJP Saturday said it will approach union Home Minister Rajnath Singh to seek security for them.

State Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Rahul Sinha said he would write to Rajnath Singh seeking security for former Saradha employee Arvind Singh Chauhan and city businessman Asif Khan – both of whom have alleged the complicity of top Trinamool leadership in the multi-crore rupee scam.

“Days are not far when the top Trinamool leaders will be indicted in the Saradha scam. People like Chauhan and Khan who have dared to take names, face danger to their life. So I will be writing to the union home minister seeking adequate security for them,” Sinha told media persons here.

He alleged there may be “attempts to silence” those who have dared the ruling party.

While Chauhan has claimed Saradha promoter and scam kingpin Sudipta Sen had met two top Trinamool leaders, days before his escape to Jammu and Kashmir, former Trinamool functionary Khan has repeatedly alleged the complicity of several of ruling party leaders.

Khan has also claimed to have seen Sen’s purported letter to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in which he had named several influential people, at the residence of a top Trinamool leader and former union minister. He also alleged that he has been receiving threats for supporting the CBI probe into the scam.

Sinha said he will also seek enhanced security for Sen and suspended Trinamool Rajya Sabha member Kunal Ghosh, both of whom are now behind bars.
