Rashtrapati Bhavan to become financially inclusive township

New Delhi : Rashtrapati Bhavan Saturday launched a new campaign to ensure financial inclusion of the around 5,000 residents and contractual workers living in the estate by mid-December, a statement said.

The campaign, which aims to turn Rashtrapati Bhavan into a financially inclusive township (FIT) includes the creation of a financial literacy hub at the Dr. Rajendra Prasad Sarvodaya Vidyalaya within the estate for the students, their families as well as all residents of the president’s estate.

It also plans to enroll all residents in the Aadhar scheme as well as open bank accounts for them under the Pradhanmantri Jan Dhan Yojana. RuPay cards will also be issued to the account holders of the United Bank of India.

The residents would also be enrolled in the ‘Swavalamban’ scheme for those belonging to the unorganized sector.

“This pilot project is intended to establish a model of convergence in government programmes and services to ensure that benefits of various schemes accrue to all residents of the president’s estate. Special attention will be given to senior citizens, women, and special children,” the statement said.

Meanwhile, a two day financial literacy-cum-inclusion camp for the residents was inaugurated as well and all the stakeholders worked through the day to enroll the residents in various schemes.
