Chennai : The Tamil Nadu government should recover from the AIADMK party the losses the state and people suffered as a result of the violence in the wake of former chief minister J. Jayalalithaa’s conviction in a corruption case, PMK leader S. Ramadoss said Monday.
In a statement here, Ramadoss said Governor K. Rosaiah should order the recovery of the loss of revenue due to the closure of the Tasmac liquor shops during the violence.
He also demanded filing of cases against the AIADMK general secretary and treasurer and recover the losses suffered by the people due to damage to their property and loss of business.
According to him, those who were involved in arson and other violent activities should be booked under Goondas Act and related laws.
Violence broke out across Tamil Nadu following the conviction of then chief minister J. Jayalalithaa Saturday by a court in Bangalore in the disproportionate assets case.
Two government buses were torched and several others were stoned. Business establishments were closed forcibly by the AIADMK supporters.
