New Delhi : Handset maker BlackBerry Monday launched its flagship smartphone BlackBerry Passport in India for Rs.49,990.
“Passport symbolises mobility. The size of this mobile is portable enough to easily tuck into pockets and handbags. The phone has a large square touch screen and new QWERTY touch-enabled keyboard. Its wider screen will give added edge to power professional,” said BlackBerry India managing director Sunil Lalvani.
This is the second phone out of BlackBerry’s stable this year in India. The company is planning to launch another handset by February 2015.
“We will launch BlackBerry Classic by February in India. The final date has not been fixed yet. The famous trackpad will be back with that phone,” Lalvani told IANS here on the sidelines of the launch.
Pre-booking for BlackBerry Passport in India started in e-commerce portal Amazon.in Monday and will continue till Oct 10. It can also be pre-booked at all BlackBerry exclusive stores. After that it will be available in retail stores.
The BlackBerry Passport has 4.5 inches square screen and operates on BlackBerry 10.3 operating system, including new features like BlackBerry Assistant, BlackBerry Blend and Amazon Appstore.
It has 3450 mAH battery that has the potential to last around 30 hours, he said.
The phone has Quad Core 2.2 GHz Processor with three GB RAM and 32 GB memory and 13 mega pixel rear and two mega pixel front cameras.
