Forces acted in violation of Standard Operation Procedure (SOP), says Police

Srinagar: A Youth was shot dead when security forces opened fire on a group of protestors who were protesting against Tral Killings and detention of Separatist leaders in Narbal area Central Kashmir’s Budgam District.
Three persons were injured in firing. One youth who got critically injured later succumbed to his injuries at the JVC Hospital, Bemina.
In a statement issued in the backdrop of killing at Narbal, police said, “Saturday morning in Magam area there were reports of stone pelting on vehicles plying on Narbal-Gulmarg road.”
Police along with paramilitary police was deployed to contain the situation, the statement said
“The deployed forces came under heavy pelting. To control the situation they fired few rounds resulting in injuries to a local youth namely Suhail Ahmad Sofi S/O Abdul Ahad Sofi R/O Narbal, Magam.”
Unfortunately, read the statement, “the injured later succumbed to his injuries in the hospital,” adding, “We regret the unfortunate incident and extend our sympathies to the bereaved family.”
Preliminary enquiry conducted in the matter indicates that the forces deployed have acted in violation of the laid down SOP, the police statement further said, adding that a case under 302, 147, 149, 341, 427 of RPC have been registered at the Magam police station and further actions will be taken.
It should be mentioned here that the Hurriyat Conference (G) chairman Syed Ali Shah Geelani had called for complete shutdown today to protest against Tral killings and arrest of separatist leaders.
