According to officials, at least six coaches of the trains — four of Sealdah-New Delhi Rajdhani Express and two of Bhubaneswar-New Delhi Rajdhani Express — were damaged in the fire. No casualty was reported.

Nineteen fire tenders were pressed into service after a call was received from the railway station at noon, said an official of the Delhi Fire Service.

“After dropping off the passengers, the trains were halted at the yard near the washing line and were being readied for their return journey,” the fire service official said.

“We are yet to ascertain the reason behind the fire, but an internal inquiry has been initiated from the railway department,” Northern Railway spokesman A.S. Negi told IANS.

Earlier, fire officials said that at least five coaches of Bhubaneswar Rajdhani were damaged in the fire.
