Cooperative federalism of India must be made strong: Rajnath

New Delhi : Stressing that the inter-state council meetings were crucial for strengthening centre-state relations, Home Minister Rajanth Singh on Saturday said cooperative federalism of the country must be made strong.

Rajnath Singh chaired the 27th meeting of the Northern Zonal Council comprising Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab, Rajasthan, Delhi and Chandigarh here, a statement said.

The meeting reviewed the progress of the implementation of recommendations made at the last meeting of the council held in Chandigarh in July 2012.

Saturday’s meeting was attended by Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh, Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal, Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar, Jammu and Kashmir Deputy Chief Minister Nirmal Singh, and other ministers and chief secretaries of the member states.
