New Delhi : The Nagaland Students Union, Delhi (NSUD) on Saturday urged the central government to ensure that the interest and identity of all Naga tribes across the northeast are protected under the Naga accord.
Welcoming the Naga accord between the central government and the National Socialist Council of Nagaland (IM), the NSUD said that even if the accord was said to be the frame work for the settlement of the decades-long Naga conflict, the territories of the neighbouring states should not be disturbed.
“We have faith in the collective leadership of Isak Chishi Swu and T. Muivah for negotiating on behalf all the Naga people and want to acknowledge Narendra Modi, who is showing his personal commitment in resolving the Indo-Naga political issue by respecting the rights and aspirations of Naga people,” said a statement from the NSUD.
“Though the contents of the agreement are yet to be released, however, in anticipation we firmly believe the collective leadership will only negotiate which will favour the ambition of the Naga people and its struggle for its right to self determination for decades,” added the statement.
