UP assembly pays glowing tributes to Kalam

Lucknow : The Uttar Pradesh assembly on Friday paid glowing tributes to former president A.P.J. Abdul Kalam.

Speaker Mata Prasad Pandey led the house in remembering Kalam.

He said through his strong will power and hard work, Kalam gave a new identity to India in the field of science and it was because of his rich contribution to various fields that he was conferred the Bharat Ratna.

He further said the late president worked hard his way from being born in a poor family to the highest office in the country and had become a great inspiration to the young people.

On this occasion, Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav called Kalam a true Indian.

“He was always active and thought about all fields and used to go to various colleges, schools and other educational institutions to interact with the students to inspire them,” Yadav added.

Terming the passing away of the ‘Missile Man’ as an irrepairable loss to the nation, the chief minister recalled his great contribution in making the country independent in the field of nuclear energy and developing missiles.

Referring to the great love and keen interest Kalam had for Uttar Pradesh, the chief minister said he would always come up with unique and novel ideas for development of the state.

He also informed the house that a few weeks before his death, Kalam had given a nine-point socio-economic developmental agenda for the state which was being implemented by the state government.

BSP’s Swamy Prasad Maurya, BJP’s Suresh Khanna, Congress’ Pradeep Mathur and RLD’s Dalbeer Singh also paid tributes to Kalam on behalf of their parties.

The first day of the monsoon session concluded after condoling Kalam’s demise.
