Noted author Hameeda Salim dies at the age of 93

New Delhi: Hamida Salim, noted Urdu author and younger sister of poet Asrarul Haq Majaz, passed away on Sunday. She was 93.

She had authored several books in her life time. She is remembered for her autobiography “Shorish-e-Daraan” and “Ham Saath They,” the collection of pen portraits of her brothers Majaz and Ansar Hirwani and sister Safia Akhter. Her other popular books are “Parchhaiyon Ke Ujale” and “Hardam Rawan Hai Zindagi”.

Noted Urdu poet and film lyricist Javed Akhtar is her nephew.

Hamida Salim was amongst the first female post graduates of the Aligarh Muslim University and also served the University as teacher for a short period.

Vice Chancellor of AMU Lt. Gen Zameer Uddin Shah has sent condolences to the bereaved family members and prayed for an elevated place in heavens for the departed soul.
