Gurgaon : Gangster-turned-Gurgaon municipal councillor Binder Gujjar and four of his henchmen, arrested for the murder of a property dealer, were on Saturday granted five day police-custody by a district court, police said.
Thirty eight-year-old Gujjar, councillor from ward 21, is accused of hiring contract killers for Rs.15 lakh to eliminate Rajkumar Sethi alias Raju, 32, who was an aide of Sandeep Gadoli, a gangster and his arch-rival.
Four shooters followed Sethi to a petrol pump in Sector 5 here and shot him down on the eve of Diwali on November 10.
The footage of the men chasing Sethi and shooting him was captured on five CCTV cameras installed in the area. The footage had gone viral on social media.
The arrested accomplices were identified as two professional shooters Maninder alias Monu, 22 and Pawan alias Munna, 23, and the other two as Sumit Kumar, 24, and Nadeem, 25.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (crime) Balbir Singh said Nadeem had confessed to providing firearms to Gujjar.
He said: “Gujjar is the main accused who planned Sethi’s murder and hired the shooters.”
During questioning, Gujjar told police that he had planned Raju’s murder to settle scores with rival gangster Sandeep Gadoli. Sethi was Gadoli’s financer.
The accused were arrested on Friday from Sohna road.
On Saturday, they were presented before the magistrate. Police demanded one week’s custody but the court gave five days.
