350th birth anniversary celebrations of Guru Gobind Singh in Patna

Chandigarh : The 350th birth anniversary celebrations of tenth Sikh master Guru Gobind Singh will be held at his birth place in Bihar’s Patna city in January 2017 in a big way.

This was decided at a meeting between Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal and his Bihar counterpart Nitish Kumar in Patna on Friday.

Accompanied by Shiromani Akali Dal President and Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal, president of the Shiromani Gurdwara Prabandhak Committee (SGPC) Avtar Singh and the president of the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC) Manjit Singh G.K., Badal held detailed discussions on the celebrations of this mega event.

“It was decided in the meeting that a high-powered committee would be constituted under the chairmanship of Punjab chief minister, with Deputy chief minister, president SGPC, and president DSGMC, besides eminent Sikh scholars and intellectuals as its members to work out the modalities for the commemoration of this historic occasion with religious fervour, enthusiasm and devotion,” a Punjab government spokesman said here.

The Bihar chief minister told the delegation that nearly 75 acres of land had already been identified in Patna for the setting up of a ‘tented city’ for the celebrations in view of the expected massive participation of Sikhs from not only different parts of the country but from across the world.
