Seminar on democracy organized at a seminary in Saharanpur

Saharanpur (UP): A seminar on ‘Democracy and our Constitutional rights’ was organized by Jamia Mazahir Uloom, a seminary in Saharanpur.

A keynote address was delivered by renowned Islamic scholar Professor Akhatr ul Wasey, Chairman of the National Commissioner for Linguistic Minorities. He stressed on democratic system of thoughts in Islamic teachings.

Guest of Honour, Maulana Sayyed Arshad Madani, President of Jamiat Ulema Hind said that Indian Constitution is the direct outcome of sacrifices of many freedom fighters, that included several Muslim ulemas.

Maulana Muhammad Shahid, General Secratry of Mazahir Uloom said that the hatred of communal forces should be won over with good behavior and love, taught in Holy Quran.

Speakers reiterated the point that the only way forward for the progress of the country is Hindu-Muslim unity. About thousand people turned out as the audience for the seminar in this town in Western Uttar Pradesh.

A number of scholars from other faiths also spoke in the programme, including Christian scholar, Father Denail Messiah, Sikh community representative Daljit Kauchar , Professor Kalbhooshan Jain, and Mahendra singh Yadav, SP city were of them . SQI Rsool editor daily Khaben, Islamic scholar Mufti Athar Shamsi, among others also spoke on the occasion.

Such an interfaith dialogue organised at a madrassa in the Western UP town was much appreciated.
