New Delhi: Renowned Unani physician Prof. Rais-ur-Rahman has been appointed Director General of Central Council for Research in Unani Medicine (CCRUM). He brings with him about three decades of teaching and administrative experience. A Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) (Unani) from Ayurvedic & Unani Tibbia College, University of Delhi, he has served as Head, Postgraduate Department of Moalajat wa Ilmul Amraz (Medicine & Pathology) at the same College during 2006–2013.
During his first interaction as DG with the Officials of the Council on February 2nd, he said that our goal for the next five years should be to take Unani System of Medicine to new and respectable heights. He is very much acquainted with the research programmes and overall functioning of the CCRUM being on its various committees in different capacities including Technical Member of Standing Finance Committee (SFC) and Member of Scientific Advisory Committee (SAC).
Established in 1979, CCRUM is an autonomous organisation of Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
