New Delhi : In a final push for their chief ministerial candidate Kiran Bedi, many senior BJP leaders Thursday took part in a massive road show in her constituency Krishna Nagar on the last day of campaigning for the Feb 7 polls.
Bedi began her day with road shows in Mangolpuri, Sultanpuri, Kirari, Nangloi and Mundka areas in north and west Delhi.
She ended her campaign in Krishna Nagar and was accompanied by union minister and local heavyweight Harsh Vardhan and East Delhi Lok Sabha member Maheish Girri.
“I am confident that the BJP will come to power in Delhi,” Bedi said addressing a delegation of lawyers at the Bharatiya Janata Party headquarters earlier in the day.
While canvassing in Krishna Nagar, Bedi said she was “blessed” to have got an opportunity to serve Delhi.
While interacting with the residents there, she assured them of strong governance under her watch.
Many BJP supporters, sporting saffron caps and scarves, cheered and chanted Bedi’s name.
According to sources, the BJP leadership had specifically directed Harsh Vardhan to “put in extra efforts” to ensure that Bedi wins her seat by a comfortable margin following reports that voters were not warming up to her as the seat has been a bastion of Harsh Vardhan and Bedi was seen as an “outsider”.
