Eyeing civic polls in the state which is due this year of 2015, AIMIM is trying to strengthen its root and hence is reaching out to Dalits and backward class community for support.
Imtiyaz Jalil, MIM MLA from Aurangabad announced here on Saturday in a press conference the inclusion of 15 faces in the party. The names are – Mukund Sonanwane (Panther Republic Party ), Pandit Borde, Prabhakar Pardhi, Chunnilal Jadhav, Abdur Rauf, Vishwanath Dandge, Padeep Ghorpade, Vibhuti Chandraved, Subhash Magre (BSP), Sumit Mogde (Dalit Bahujan Mahasangh), Suresh Dhandhar, Bhaskar Gaikwad (Bheem Shakti), Banne Khan Pathan ( NCP) and some other social workers including Vinod Bankar.
“We have planned to fight municipal corporation elections in Aurangabad with the help of Dalits and OBCs and hence are reaching out to them,” Jalil said, adding, “All other political parties have used Muslims, Dalits and OBCs as a vote bank and have not actually helped them to uplift their communities. We, as a party, are not looking for development of only Muslims but for all backward classes”.
“This is the reason that people from OBCs are joining us as they are impressed with our all class development agenda” he said giving example of Paithan rally which was attended by many OBCs and Dalits”, said Jalil.
Jalil clarified to the media that MIM is aware that people might join party with the sole intention of obtaining tickets for the civic polls and hence they would run background check before allowing anyone to actually commence party work.
He also informed media that not only Dalit corporators but many corporators from INC and NCP are also in contact with MIM for inclusion in the party.
After joining MIM, Mukund Sonawane, General Secretary for state of Panther Republic Party said, “Till Muslims and Dalit join hands their future cannot be secured. Both have to move ahead hand in hand to get justice for their communities”.
“Whoever works against the constitution is our enemy while who works under its light is our friend. MIM never worked against the constitution and hence I have decided to join it”, he added.
