Disappointed by railway budget: Nitish

Patna : Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar Thursday said that he was disappointed by the “incomplete” railway budget for 2015-16 as there was nothing new in it.

“I was disappointed by the railway budget presented by Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu,” Nitish Kumar, who is also a former railway minister, told media persons, adding it had ideas but no funding for them.

“What has suprised me that there was no action plan in the budget.It is an incomplete budget,” he said, describing the budget as a “dibba (coach) without passengers”.

In reference to the proposal of running “Bullet trains”, Nitish Kumar said this had been repeated by several railway ministers in past except him but this was no feasible in the Indian context.

“It is showcasing only, nothing else because it is not possible practically for now. Talking and announcing to run bullet trains are easy,” he said.

Nitish Kumar also cautioned that there should not be any “backdoor” move for privatization of railways, saying this would not yield any benefit.
