National convention on union budget in Delhi on Jan 8, 9

New Delhi: The Centre for Budget and Governance Accountability, (CBGA) has organised a two-day national convention on Union Budget 2015-16 here on January 8 and 9.

The convention will bring together around 200 Civil Society Organisations, (CSOs) from more than 20 states. The deliberations in the two-day convention will focus on some of the priorities for social sectors and vulnerable sections of the population for the forthcoming Union Budget, based on a set of policy as compiled by member organisations in the network with inputs from CSOs.

The CSOs which are part of the People’s Budget Initiative network, taking into account both substantive work towards assessing budgets (at the national and sub-national level) from the perspective of the vulnerable sections and the inputs from a large number of CSOs that have been working on development issues at the grassroots level. A number of issues pertaining to policies and budgets, relevant in the current context, will also be discussed.

The CBGA is a proactive, enabling and learning organisation, which promotes transparent and accountable governance; people’s participation in the discourse and processes of governance; and a pro-people and rights-based policy environment, equity and social justice.
