During interrogation he said his name was Abdul Barikh and that he was a resident of Khulna district of Bangladesh, a police official said Saturday.

He said he frequently travelled between the two countries.

On his way to Bangladesh, he showed his Bangladeshi credentials to the country’s border officials, and on his way to India he used to pose as a merchant and showed his Indian credentials to Indian officers.

He obtained his voter identity card from Okhla assembly constituency and driving license from Shahdara.

“We also recovered Bangladeshi currency from his possession. Some papers found with him suggest that he belongs to the Awami League party there. Other papers recovered from him are being verified,” said Atul Yadav of the Indirapuram police station.
