Beed (Maharashtra): A little known social organisation Shiv Sangram felicitated a teacher Dr Fahmida with its ‘Nari Shakti’ award on the occasion of the birth anniversary of Jijabai, the mother of Shivaji, the founder of Maratha Empire.
Dr Fahmida was honored on Friday in the field of education along with several other ladies for their services in respective fields at the programme that basically sought to recognise the work of women in different fields.
Dr. Fahmida awarded ‘Nari Shakti’ award in Beed
Dr Fahmida was awarded the ‘Nari Shakti’ (Power of Women) trophy at the hands of Member of Parliament from Beed, Preetam Munde, daughter of late BJP leader Gopinath Munde.
She teaches English at the Umme Milliya High School in Parli town. The school is affiliated with Anjuman Isha’at Ta’aleem Trust in Beed. Wife of Abdul Salaam, Fahmida recently achieved a doctorate degree in English from Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University, Aurangabad. Before this, she had completed Masters in Arts and Masters in Philosophy – both in English – from the same university. She has also done M A in History besides doing Bachelor of Education.
She is considered to be the rare Muslim personality in the district to have pursued such higher qualifications. She is also appreciated for continuing her studies alongside her teaching at the school. Recognizing her thrust for education, she was also felicitated during a programme by the Vice Chancelor of her University.
