AMU condoles Dr Mah Seema Masood

Aligarh: The staff and students of the Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) paid tributes on the sad demise of Dr Mah Seema Masood, Director, Centre of Continuing and Adult Education and Extension, AMU.

She had passed away on January 7.

Dr Masood was an alumna of AMU and received her MA (Philosophy), MA (Education) and M Phil degrees from the University. She was actively associated with several governmental and non-governmental bodies involved in promotion of science and education. A popular teacher, she commanded higher degree of respect among university circles and was fondly referred to as Seema Aapa, a release from the AMU PRO said.

The condolence meeting was held at the Centre of Continuing and Adult Education and Extension. A large number of senior teachers including AMU Registrar Dr Asfar Ali, Professor Emeritus Irfan Habib, Dr Namita Singh and others paid rich tribute to late Dr Mah Seema and prayed for solace to the bereaved family, the release added.

Meanwhile, the Ismat Literacy and Handicraft Centre of the AMU Ladies’ Club on Tuesday paid a rich tribute to late Dr Jamila Majid Siddiqui. Majid’s daughter, Dr Afshan Hashmi has presented a valuable necklace to the University, which the AMU had decided to auction.

Paying homage to Dr Majid, AMU Vice Chancellor Lt Gen Zameer Uddin Shah said she was an iconic personality in the University campus and her family was committed to the University, a release said.
