New Delhi : German Finance Minister Wolfgang Schauble will be on a two-day India visit from Jan 19 during which he will hold talks with Prime Minister Narendra Modi as well as Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi.
Schauble will also meet his Indian counterpart Arun Jaitley. He will also hold several interactions with top Indian industry representatives and discuss ways to enhance bilateral economic relations between the two countries, said a press release from the German embassy here.
Ahead of the visit, German Ambassador to India, Michael Steiner, said that Schauble’s visit “is a significant kick-off to a series of high-level meetings between India and Germany in a very promising year for our bilateral relations”.
“Minister Schauble’s visit will further boost Indo-German economic ties ahead of the world’s most important industrial trade fair in Hannover, where India will be in the limelight as the official partner country. It is also a step toward the meeting between Prime Minister Modi’s and Chancellor Merkel’s cabinets later this year.”
Prime Minister Modi will travel to Germany in April, where he will inaugurate the Hannover Messe together with German Chancellor Angela Merkel and hold bilateral meetings at the highest level.
