Letter to President against inclusion of ‘tainted’ MPs in AMU court

By TCN News,

New Delhi: Academics and activists have written a joint-letter to the President of India against the appointment of “riot accused and peace breakers” to the AMU Court urging him for urgent intervention.

The Court of any University is the top decision making body. Central Government has recently appointed four members to the AMU Court of whom, one member has dubious credentials, and hence these concerned activists have written the letter against what they see as “not fair to get an appointment in the top decision making team of any educational institution.”

Kunwar Bhartendra, who is a BJP MP from the Bijnore Loksabha seat in UP, is an accused in the Muzaffarnagar communal riot case. The Police have filed a charge-sheet against him, but that did not stop the Narendra Modi led government to appoint him in the highest decision making body of the University.

They have hence urged the President to intervene in the matter and advise the HRD Ministry to revise their decision by placing some noted academician and experts as the court members in their place.

The joint letter has been under signed by following persons:
Dr Sandeep Pandey, IIT, BHU
Prof Ram Puniyani, All India Secular Forum
Prof Vipin kumar Tirpathi, Sadhbhav Mission, Retired from IIT Delhi
Dr Qudusia Anjum, Parcham
Dr Prem singh , Delhi University
Prof Rajendar Chaudhary, Rohtak
Faisal Khan, NAPM, Khudai Khidmatgar
Shahab Shabbir, Research Scholar, Coordinator, Khudai Khidmatgar (AMU)
