New Delhi : The chief ministerial candidates of the AAP and the BJP in Delhi wished the people on the occasion of India’s 66th Republic Day Monday. US President Barack Obama is the chief guest at the event.
“My best wishes on this Republic Day. On this day, it is my hope that we the people of Delhi will come together to provide our capital with good governance and free it of all negativity,” Bedi wrote on Twitter.
The former IPS officer, who joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Jan 15 and was nominated as its chief ministerial candidate for the Feb 7 Delhi assembly poll, was seated in the front row, and seen clapping and cheering for the marching contingents on a rainy Monday morning at Rajpath here.
Her former colleague, Arvind Kejriwal of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), also took to the social media website and wished the people in Hindi. The former Delhi chief minister had Jan 24 said he was not invited to attend the Republic Day parade.
Kejriwal had said: “I am not invited to attend the Republic Day celebrations, I don’t know why I wasn’t invited. Though I want to attend.”
