Doda: Tension gripped Doda town when people belonging to a minority community came out on roads to protest the alleged thrashing of their member by a member of another community on Wednesday morning.
However no injury has been reported to any person. The situation was normal by late afternoon.
According to an eye-witness account, there was lot of noise in the market due to drums as part of the annual Trishool Yatra. A person belonging to majority community objected to drumming in front of his house as it was making a lot of noise in the locality and an argument followed. “The argument soon turned ugly when both the men came to blows. Later, people belonging to the minority community came on roads to protest the incident, burnt tyres and demanded arrest of the culprit,” he said.
The situation was normalized when leaders of the majority community from the area intervened and asked people to maintain calm.
Udhay Shanker Wazir, Doda’s Station House Officer, told TwoCircles.net, “It wasn’t much like a communal kind of thing. But there was an argument between two persons belonging to different communities over drumming in the locality in which one person slapped another person. As of now there has been no arrest. An FIR (104, 1/07/2015) has been lodged at police station Doda. Everything is normal as of now.”
