Jammu: An Indian soldier was injured on Tuesday when the Pakistan Army fired at Indian positions on the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir.
“The Pakistan Army violated the ceasefire on the LoC in Poonch district and used small arms and automatics to target our positions,” a defence spokesman, Colonel Manish Mehta, told IANS.
The Pakistani firing started at 9.45 a.m., the spokesman said, adding that Indian troops retaliated by using weapons of similar calibre.
“One Indian soldier suffered a grazed bullet injury. His condition was stable till last reports came in,” he said.
The Pakistani firing came after a day’s lull on the LoC and the international border that divides Jammu and Kashmir between India and Pakistan.
On Monday, a Border Security Force trooper was killed in Pakistani firing in Nowgam sector in Kupwara district of the Kashmir Valley.
The Pakistan Rangers also targeted Indian positions on the international border in Jammu district on Monday.
