AMU’s ‘Directory of Scholarships’ published

Aligarh: Appreciating the release of a ‘Directory of Scholarships’, Brigadier S Ahmad Ali, pro-vice chancellor, Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) said it is an assiduous compilation of the financial assistance available at the AMU for meritorious and deserving students.

The ‘Directory of Scholarships’ was published by Professor Anis Ismail, the Dean, Students’ Welfare, AMU, on Monday, a release from AMU said.

The AMU has always aspired to make available to its students various scholarships, fellowships, aid to students, stipends and other financial support schemes in order to assist the needy and deserving students to achieve their goals.

In his message, the vice chancellor, Lt Gen Zameer Uddin Shah said the financial initiatives undertaken by the University for its students were meant for motivating the students achieve greater heights and excel in their life. He said that the number of students and donors’ scholarships continued to grow every year.

“However, the University had a very efficient mechanism of providing incentives and encouragement to students to work harder and exploit the opportunities to the maximum,” he added.
Gen Shah thanked the alumni and other well-wishers for extending support to the University in furthering the cause of social and educational upliftment of deserving students.

Earlier, welcoming the guests, Professor Ismail said the ‘Directory of Scholarships’ was meant to provide consolidated course-wise and faculty-wise information about various scholarships and financial assistance initiatives available in the University for the benefit of students. He said that the office of the DSW coordinated the various welfare schemes and financial assistance programmes, which include merit cum means scholarships, fellowships, stipends, aid to students and financial assistance.

Professor Ismail said that special efforts had been made to provide complete information with respect to various awards and the Directory was meant for wider circulation among students.

On this occasion, a Roza Iftaar was also organized. AMU Registrar Dr Asfar Ali Khan, Finance Officer Dr S M Javed Akhtar, Proctor Dr Mohamma Asif Khan, Deputy DSWs and Assistant DSWs were present, the release added.
