Eid to be celebrated across India on Saturday

New Delhi: Eid-ul-Fitr, which concludes the holy month of Ramadan, will be celebrated on Saturday after moon was spotted at various places across India on Friday evening.

“The moon was seen in various places in Assam, Bihar, and Odisha today (Friday). So, Eid-ul-Fitr will be celebrated tomorrow (Saturday),” Maulana Mufti Mohammed Mukarram,” Naib Imam of the 17th-century Fatehpuri mosque announced here.

He said the moon was not seen in Delhi because of clouds.
At Kolkata, Maulana Mohammad Shafique, Imam of Nakoda Mosque, announced sighting of the moon. The Khilafat Committee too announced that Eid namaz will be held at Red Road, which will see the largest congregation of Eid Ul Fitr in Kolkata.

Similar announcements were made by Maulana Nurur Rahman Barkati, Imam of Tipu Sultan Mosque in presence of Mamata Banerjee; Imarat Sharia, Patna; Khanqah, Fulwari Sharif, Jamia, Delhi and Jama Masjid, Ludhiana apart from Telangana, Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka.

On Friday evening Maulana Nurur Rahman Barkati, Imam of Tipu Sultan Mosque in presence of Mamata Banerjee, CM of WB announcing regarding Eid Ul Fitr.

In Mumbai, Markazi Ruyate Hilal Committee Masjid-e-Jama Mumbai announced sighting of the Shawwal 1436 moon on Friday and thus Eid celebration on Saturday. However, there was no announcement as yet from Barelvi Masjid even when taraveeh prayers were held. Sunni Jamiat ul Mah Hilal Committee did not announce of sighting of the moon and in fact appealed to the people to report if anyone had spotted the moon, Raees Ahmed, Madan Pura Sunni Badi Masjid, said.
