Kabul: At least 28 militants have been killed in fresh military operations across Afghanistan, the country’s defence ministry said on Wednesday.
“A total of 28 armed militants have been killed, 27 wounded and two others arrested as Afghan army carried out clean-up operations in different places of the country within the last 24 hours,” Xinhua quoted the statement by the defence ministry.
The army personnel have seized weapons and defused several roadside bombs and landmines planted by militants during the raids, according to the statement.
It also confirmed losing three army soldiers in landmine blasts and clashes with the militants over the same period.
The Taliban-led violence continues in Afghanistan. Security forces have pressed on to clear the militants in restive provinces.
Afghan security forces have assumed the full security charges from NATO and US forces after the NATO-led troops have switched from combat to support role since January 1.
