“Farmers were afraid of the central government’s Land Acquisition Bill because it aimed at taking away their lands forcibly. It is not a good sign at all,” Pawar said.

Pawar also said that the central government has reduced the agricultural expenditure from Rs.1,9852 crore to Rs.1,7000 crore and this has angered the farmers all the more.

He added that the Centre’s decision to reduce the government’s expenditure towards agriculture has severely affected ambitious projects like green revolution in eastern India and the national horticulture mission.
