Mangaluru: Entrepreneur and community leader Usman Haji Mittur passed away due to a cardiac arrest at his residence in Puttur in the wee hours of Tuesday, the sixth day of holy month of Ramadan.
65-year-old Usman Haji was known for his philanthropic activities and community service in Dakshina Kannada and neighbouring districts.
He was the president of Markazul Huda Women’s College Kumbra, Puttur, since its inception. He had also donated land for this institution.
He also served as the vice president of Kasaragod-based Muhimmath, a unit of Jamia Markazu Ssaqafathi Ssunniyya.
Karnataka Health and Family Welfare Minister U T Khader, Mangaluru North MLA Mohiuddin BaWA, Veteran Islamic scholar Shaikh A P Aboobakar Ahmed Musliyar, Udupi Khazi Ibrahim Musliyar Bekal among others have expressed their condolences on the sad demise of Usman Haji.
In their condolence messages, leaders of Markazul Huda Uae National Committee, Karnataka Cultural Foundation, UAE Sunni Students Federation, Karnataka, have expressed their sorrows and recalled the contributions of Usman Haji.
