Hyderabad: President Pranab Mukherjee arrived here on Monday on a 10-day southern sojourn.
Telangana Governor E.S.L. Narasimhan, Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao, his cabinet colleagues and senior officials received the President at Hakimpet air force station.
In a gesture of reverence, the chief minister touched the feet of Mukherjee after presenting him a bouquet.
After arriving from Delhi by an India Air Force aircraft, Mukherjee drove to Rashtrapati Nilayam at Bollarum in Secunderabad, where he will stay till July 8.
Police have made tight security arrangements at Rashtrapati Nilayam and imposed traffic restrictions in the area.
Mukherjee will attend a reception at Raj Bhavan on Tuesday. He will visit Tirupati on July 1 to pay obeisance at Tirumala temple.
He is likely to inaugurate ‘Telangana Harithaharam’, a massive plantation programme, at Yadgirigutta on July 3.
