National Science Day celebrated at Techno City

Guwahati: Around eighty Science models based on technology & innovation were displayed by young and budding engineers of Regional Institute of Science & Technology at the Techno City campus of 9th mile in Meghalaya on the occasion of National Science Day on Saturday, February 28.

The model exhibition was inaugurated by Padmashree Mehmoodur Rehman, the former Vice Chancellor of Aligarh Muslim University.

Later, Kulendu Pathak, former Vice Chancellor of Dibrugarh University judged those models prepared by students of Civil, Mechanical, Electronics, Electrical & Computer Science Engineering. He had highly appreciated these unique efforts made by the upcoming engineers.

Among them was an extraordinary model made by the students of Civil engineering which is the replica of the world’s tallest tower – the Burj Khalifa of Dubai.

Another event organized by University of Science & Technology, Meghalaya (USTM) on the occasion of National Science Day was a Debate Competition on the topic “Indian Science is lagging behind in developing Nation’s Youth Force”.

Students from Cotton College, B Borooah College and Handique Girls’ College participated in the Competition along with the students of USTM. Kuldeep Soren of B Borooah College bagged the First prize while the second and third prizes were bagged by Idul Ali of Cotton College and Bhaskarjyoti of USTM.

The team from B Borooah College comprising of Shah Alam Ali and Kuldeep Soren was judged as the Best Team. The competition was an initiative of NSS Cell and School of Biological Sciences of USTM.
