The work will finish by the year-end, it added.

TCS has committed Rs.100 crore to constructing toilets for girls under the Prime Minister’s Swachh Bharat (Clean India) mission.

For the maintenance of the toilets, the company has tied up with non-government organisations and is also in advanced negotiations with consumer care companies to provide hand wash products and sanitary napkins for personal hygiene and janitorial supplies for toilet cleaning, the company said.

TCS is one of the first companies, along with the likes of Bharti Airtel, Vedanta and Larsen & Toubro to commit resources for the Swachh Bharat programme launched in August last year.

Meanwhile on Saturday, TCS bagged the best overall exporter award in the large companies category at the ECGC Dun and Bradstreet Export Performance awards in Mumbai.
