Islamabad : At least 34 suspected militants were killed and several others injured in an offensive by the Pakistani army in the country’s northwestern Khyber tribal region on Wednesday, the military said.
Houses believed to be hideouts of suspected militants were pounded by army jets in Tirah Valley of Khyber Agency, a semi-autonomous tribal area along the Pakistan- Afghanistan border, Xinhua news agency reported citing a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public relations, the mouthpiece of the Pakistani army.
The Identities of the militants killed have not been revealed yet.
The airstrike came two days after the military announced the successful end of Operation Khyber-1 in the area that was launched in October last year.
The army said that over 100 militants were killed during the operation, while around 450 terrorists have been arrested for their involvement in anti-state activities.
