The meeting coincided with the several programmes organised in Ayodhya on the occasion of Ram Navami by Vishva Hindu Parishad.

Appeals were made in the meeting to end the ills prevailing in the community or else no power on earth will be able to earn respect of Muslims.

Attacking Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Hindutva organizations it was stated that the prime minister’s “tacit support to such hatemongers of the right-wing organisations associated with the RSS” indicated that he was pampering them to continue terrorise one particular community.

“India is a democratic country where every citizen has the right to practice the religion of his choice, but there is an effort to take the country away from the path of law and justice to the one of anarchy and fascism.”, the resolution passed in the meeting said.

It is also stated, “Jamiat will launch awareness campaigns in villages and towns to strengthen brotherhood.”

Addressing the gathering Arshad Madani, President of Jamiat said, “RSS is a fascist organisation which should be banned immediately. It was involved in razing the Babri Masjid on December 6, 1992 in Ayodhya. Still it has been allowed to continue its communal activities. Its several wings are involved in ghar wapsi, which is not acceptable to the Muslim community at any cost. The RSS leaders are frequently saying that India would be a Hindu Rashtra. They want to play with the Constitution of India to vitiate social and political atmosphere of the country”.

“Those, who are creating hatred by talking about ‘ghar wapsi’ and ‘Hindu Rashtra’ are presenting a wrong picture of their own religion,” he said.

Madani also criticised Prime Minister Narendra Modi, saying he (Modi) could not reply in Parliament on issue of “hate campaign by right wing activists”.

He claimed that no other community has made as much sacrifice as Muslims for the independence of the country and he warned that it (country) has been divided once on communal lines and could further be fragmented if the fires of communalism were allowed to spread.

“However, these right-wing organisations want to push the country towards anarchy and bloodbath. They have been involved in fascist activities. But Jamiat has resolved to start a nationwide campaign to make people aware of the right of every citizen to practise whichever religion they like. Nobody can force or lure them to change their religion,” he further said.

Several other resolutions to uplift and protect the minority community were also passed in the meeting. It reminded the Samajwadi Party (SP) government of its promise to prevent communal activities in the state and hold local administration directly responsible for any communal riot in an area.

Jamiat leaders said the SP should fulfil the promise of 18 per cent reservation for the Muslims in jobs, or be prepared to suffer in the 2017 Assembly elections.

It was also decided at the meeting that Jamiat will help the Hashimpura victim’s families in pursuing the cases in court.

It was further declared that it is against the Shariah to put the picture of the woman on the ration cards as head of a family. The resolution asked for immediately abolishing such system.
