AICTE recognizes MANUU’s B Tech course

Hyderabad: The B Tech programme started by the School of Computer Science & Information Technology of the Maulana Azad National Urdu University (MANUU) has been approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE).

According to Professor Abdul Wahid, Dean, School of Computer Science & Information Technology, the AICTE has sent a notification dated April 30, informing about the approval, a release from MANUU said on Thursday.

It also said that the facilities at the CS & IT School have been found according to the required standards of AICTE. The notification said that when the team from AICTE visited the School of CS & IT twice — once on March 18 and the other on April 20 — it found the buildings, laboratories and equipment etc. suitable for engineering courses.

Since MANUU, as a Central University, has the necessary authority to start the B Tech programme, it had done so in 2013. At the same time, to instill more confidence among the students, about the course, the University sought approval from the AICTE which was communicated through the notification, the release added.

The School of CS & IT will be starting M Tech programme in the 2015-2016 academic year while it has already started Ph D programme and registered four students. MCA program was started in the School in 2012, Professor Abdul Wahid said.

In the meantime, the AICTE has also extended its approval to the Polytechnic courses in Hyderabad.
The principal of Polytechnic Dr Yousuf Khan has been informed about the extension of the approval by the AICTE, the release added.
