Hyderabad: Emergency kits containing food, grains, first aid items, hygiene items, water purification tablets, tarp and more were distributed to over 1,000 quake affected people in Nepal by the US-based Indian Muslim Relief & Charities (IMRC).

Sahayata Trust, the implementation partner of IMRC, had sent a team of volunteers to Kathmandu and after distributing relief kits it returned on May 7, 2015. They connected with the local organisations and identified the quake hit areas where little or no relief had reached so far.

“Despite dirt roads, blocked paths and connectivity, IMRC volunteers reached out via hiking and bicycling in rural areas to at least 300 households in seven villages of Ramkot, Hasantoal, Bhagatpur, Shivakoti, Laylay, Sindpal Chowk and Panuti,” a statement from IMRC said.

IMRC core team was led by Mohammed Abdul Khuddus, Syed Abdul Najeeb and M A Lateef Atear. IMRC is further planning to help victims with rehabilitation.
