Hyderabad: Professor Khwaja M Shahid, pro-vice chancellor, MANUU has been appointed as vice chancellor (in-charge) of the Maulana Azad National Urdu University as per the directions received from the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD).
He took charge from the outgoing vice chancellor Professor Mohammad Miyan on May 13, 2015. He will continue to be in the job “till a regular vice-chancellor is selected and assumes change or until further orders,” a communiqué from the MHRD said.

Professor Shahid is an experienced administrator and educationist. During his tenure as Registrar with the Jamia Millia Islamia, Delhi, his management of transformation of the institution from a ‘deemed university’ status to a full-fledged central university was highly appreciated. He was responsible for the all-round educational and infrastructural development of the University during its initial phase as a Central government institution, a release from MANUU said.
He has been associated with various educational institutions and associations that include Asian Institute of Technology, Bangkok; Asian Institute of Management, Manila; International Centre for Promotion of Entrepreneurship, Slovania; Commonwealth Secretariat, London; and SAARC Secretariat.
Professor Shahid joined MANUU on May 9, 2013 as its pro vice chancellor. Besides serving as the Pro-VC, he is also the director, Academic Staff College, Maulana Azad National Urdu University, the release added.
