Kolkata : Going hammer and tongs against the opposition, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Friday called for defeating the Communist Party of India-Marxist, the Bharatiya Janata Party and the Congress in the upcoming assembly polls.
“We have to defeat CPI-M-BJP-Congress in the assembly elections,” she said during her address to students at the Trinamool Congress Chhatra Parishad (TMCP) workshop here.
Banerjee, also the Trinamool Congress supremo, asserted that her government is strong on principles.
“We have not deviated from our ideology. We even withdrew support to centre when their policies became anti-people,” she said, referring to the time it withdrew from the United Progressive Alliance.
Launching a scathing attack on the CPI-M for its repeated accusations linking Trinmaool to vioolenc, Banerjee said she has not forgotten the violent incidents during Left Front rule.
“We have not forgotten how CPI-M had killed tea garden workers in Darjeeling district. We have not forgotten the Operation Sunrise in Nandigram. We have not forgotten the horrors of Keshpur, Netai, Canning. A TMCP activist in Khejuri, Sujata, was brutally raped and murdered. How dare CPM accuse us of violence,” she questioned.
