Ajmal CSR organization starts work in West Bengal

Kolkata: Under the banner of Ajmal CSR Organization, two leading social organizations of Assam Markazul Ma’arif and Ajmal Foundation have started their philanthropic activities in West Bengal and already taken social initiatives in Muslim dominated district of Murshidabad and Malda.

This was announced at a programme “A step towards community welfare” by Maulana M Burhanuddin Qasmi, secretary of Markazul Ma’arif, and Khasrul Islam, manager of Ajmal Foundation. The programme was organized by Ajmal CSR Organizations at Kalakunja Auditorium here on Sunday, May 24, 2015.

A short documentary film about the activities of Markazul Ma’arif and Ajmal Foundation, how the Ajmal group devoted to the people of Assam not only in Muslim dominated areas but also in other backward class area, was screened at the beginning of the programme.

Giving details about the activities, Khasrul Islam said, “Markazul Ma’arif and Ajmal Foundation started the journey from Hojai in Assam but the work now has spread outside Assam too. Beside free education, Ajmal CSR is engaged in vocational training giving services in rural undeveloped area. Now, in West Bengal the two organisations have started the journey as part of the social activities. We have already taken social initiatives in Muslim dominated district of West Bengal in Murshidabad and Malda.”

Burhanuddin, moderator of the programme, editor of Eastern Crescent and secretary of Ajamal Foundation, informed that few farmers from Murshdiabad and Malda were inspired by the activities of Ajmal CSR and hence donated land for the development of the minority communities. Among them, three land donors Shamsul Ali, Abdul Matin and Haji Badruddoza were present in the programme.

Some of the intellectuals, educationalist, social activist of West Bengal were invited for the programme. Dr Syed Shamsul Alam, former vice chancellor of Aliah University, said, Ajmal CSR silently doing social work among the backward class people in Assam. “They want to do something for the West Bengal minorities and other backward class people, initially in two district of Murshidabad and Malda. They are most welcome.”

Abdur Rauf, Muslim intellectual and chairman of GD Study Circle, said, “Everyone knows Muslims in Murshidabad and Malda are most backward in education. Ajmal CSR works not only in Assam, their activities reaches in other state also for the development of the minority communities. If they take special initiatives to improve the education of the minorities in Murhsidabad and Malda, then the situation will change. All the Muslims of the state should join hands with Ajmal CSR.”

Bhagyadhar Karmakar, Murshidabad district secretary of Rotary Club, said, regardless of race, creed and religion, Ajmal CSR has been engaged in social service, which is ideal for secular India.

Maulana Shamsuddin, vice president of Ajmal Foundation; Mujibar Rahman, documentary film maker; Dr Sabah Ismail, chairman of Functions Committee of Urdu Academy; Abu Talib Rahmani, Irfan Sher, editor of ‘Maeeshat’; Danish Reyaz and many other personalities were present during the event.
