New Delhi: A delegation of All India Majlis-E-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) visited the riot-hit Atali village in Ballabgarh near Faridabad in neighbouring Haryana and demanded that the state government must constitute a special enquiry team to expose the conspiracy behind these riots.
The AIMIM team, led by Mohammad Afzal Khan, ward number 205 president, Okhla (New Delhi) along several members of AIMIM Delhi, met the victims from the Atali village on May 27, a release from Khan, the AIMIM leader in Delhi, said.
A PTI report quoted SHO In-charge Inspector Preetpal saying: “At least five persons were injured and about 15 houses burnt on Monday when people from the two communities clashed over construction of the religious structure adjacent to the other community’s religious site.”
Scores of people had fled their house in fear and taken refuge at the local police station. The houses were looted and set afire, which made it immediately not possible for the victims to return to their respective households.
During the visit, the AIMIM team found that the houses of Muslim people were burnt down to ashes and looted. The delegation extended whatever support it could to the victims and their families.
The delegation then met Moolchand Sharma, the local MLA, and Priyanka Soni, the SDM, and demanded that a quick and strict action, from both police and administration, be taken against the culprits at the earliest. The delegation also demanded security for victims, an assurance for which was received.
Members of the delegation also visited Badshah Khan (BK) Hospital, where several injured victims are being treated. “The team also visited the Ballabgarh Police Station, where it met the DCP Bhupinder Singh and also the riot affected people who have taken refuge in large numbers at the police station premises,” the release said.
The team discussed the situation with the victims and tried to find out all the facts that led to the communal riot, and assured the people all possible assistance they can provide.
Mohammad Afzal Khan, ward president of AIMIM, said, “It is very clear that Muslims are targeted at Atali village. They (the rioters) burnt their houses, vehicles and looted cash and other assets. The role of police seems to be negligent towards culprits, and no arrest has been made so far.”

“We demand immediate action against the culprits and demand lodging of an FIR against Babu Lal, SHO of Chhasi police station,” the team demanded. To which, Subash Yadav, Haryana Police Commissioner, told Khan about the suspension orders of Babu Lal, SHO, and that the situation is under close scrutiny of the administration.

“Haryana government must constitute a special enquiry team to expose the conspiracy behind this riot. After considering the loss borne by the victims, the government should make adequate compensation as soon as possible. Moreover, secular forces and authorities should be cautious about reoccurrence of such unfortunate incidents,” the release added.
